The Chile international has seen his iconic status grow since moving to the Bundesliga. Only a couple of weeks ago a superfan had his image shaved into the back of his head , complete with national-team colours.
This time his supporters have gone a step further, doctoring a 1,000 peso note to place Vidal – Mohawk and all – over the image of 19th century Chilean war hero Ignacio Carrera Pinto.
Both Vidal and Pinto were born in Santiago, Chile’s capital.
