Recently, News gathered that the Federal Ministry of Environment and its parastatals has suspended the Calabar Super Highway which runs from Calabar through Bakassi and will terminate at Katsina-Ala in Benue State.
The reason being that, the project will encroach many houses, lands and including the National Park Reserved.
Following these constraints, the State Government has now submitted the draft of the EIA which is currently undergoing the mandatory approval processes.
The state government expects that after the conclusion of the processes and a stakeholder’s conference, an EIA Certificate will be issued to the state and work will again commence.
As part of the activities to ensure that the process is expedited, the State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade along with his Senior Special Assistant on Communications and Branding, Dr. Dorncklaimz Enamhe, met with the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed on Wednesday, 4th of May to iron out the knotty issues delaying the project.
