Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool: Benteke rescue point for the Reds which won't count anything as they failed to qualify for Europa League

Christian Benteke earned Liverpool a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in injury time, after a goalkeeping howler from Asmir Begovic.

The Belgian nodded home in injury time after the stopper flapped at a seemingly routine cross, earning his side a point against the run of play.

Chelsea had looked set to earn a much deserved victory after Eden Hazard’s fine 32nd minute goal; the Belgian weaved his way through the Reds defence and drove an effort past Lloris, but Jurgen Klopp’s men would not be denied.

But the Reds chances of making it to the UEFA Europa League was dented yesterday when West Ham won United 3-2 at home to ensure their spot in the competition.

They could have been chance, had it been not that Crystal Palace made it to the FA Cup finals. That means, Palace are automatically playing for the competition.
