Students from the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), Calabar campus yesterday staged a protest against two dead colleagues and a 3-day back to back robbery by suspected Skolombo Boys.
The protest was organised by the Student Union Government (SUG) which summed up students across the compound that matched round the school peacefully before visiting the Vice Chancellor’s office.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Owan Enoh, received the students and while addressing them, he agreed with the students that incidents of robbery in the school have become incessant and also called on the state government to intervene urgently.
“The issue is getting out of hand and the Government needs to intervene and I’ll make sure the security in the school is heightened”, Prof Enoh said.
“It was 3 Days back when some students were reading at night class, then some armed gunmen raided the building, dispatching the students of their gadgets including computers, mobile phones and money.
“She continued; at the incident a boy jumped down from the story build and bruises his head and died instantly while the other was a female who tried to jump a fence that led to her bruising herself badly. She was later rushed to the nearby clinic, but gave up her ghost.
