Calabar welcomes Nigeria's U20 ahead of their game against Burundi for the ongoing CAF U20 Qualifiers on June 11

The Nigerian Under-20 Golden Eaglets arrives Calabar, Cross River State capital yesterday on Sunday June 5th, 2016 ahead of their qualifying game against Burundi for the 2017 CAF U20 Nations Cup in Zambia.

The U20 Eaglets who are favourites to qualify for this tournament after beating Burundi’s Young Swallows away, thanks to a lone goal from Chukwudi are currently lodging at the Tinapa Lakeside Hotels, Calabar and will be playing a friendly games against the UNICEM Rovers of Calabar Wednesday 8th before taking on the Young Swallows on Saturday, 11th at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

Meanwhile in meantime, the Eaglets will be training at the Abraham Ordia’s Stadium, University of Calabar (UNICAL), Calabar.

Speaking to our correspondent, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Asu Okang says the state is so grateful to have them back, since it was the same boys who played here and went to win the U17 in Chile. Adding to that, the Commissioner promises good conduct, treat and as well as tight security and support to make sure the team wins here in Calabar as usual.

Also speaking with Calabar reporters was the Eaglets head coach Emmanuel Amunike whose expresses his delight to be here saying:

“It’s a privilege for us (the team) to be here and hopefully we will continue to make people happy and continue to do what we (the team) knows best”.
