The National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators (NCNDE-A) has called on youths to support the federal government, urging them not to pay attention to All Progressive Congress (APC) ‘blackmailers’ who will do anything to create disunity within the country. The president of the association, Israel Akpodoro, made the statement in Abuja on Friday, Vanguard Newspaper reported.
Mr. Akpodoro said in the statement that some members of the opposition had brainwashed the Niger Deltan youths to believe that the non-payment of the amnesty allowance was a form of punishment by the federal government. He appealed to the government to pay the arrears of the amnesty stipend, as such an act will go a long way to restore peace in the region and dispel the rumor that the federal government is punishing ex-militants for the havoc of the Niger Delta Avengers.
The association called on President Muhammadu Buhari to pay the allowances so as to cushion the effects of the current economic situation in the nation.
