Manchester United welcomes back Paul Pogba on Tuesday, 8th August, 2016 as the midfielder sets for a medical before his world record £89m transfer from Juventus. The Juventus man’s return to Old Trafford has been a long process, but a picture of him wearing the club’s training apparel suggests the deal could soon be completed.
The France midfielder flew from Nice into Manchester Airport on Monday before making his way to the club’s training ground. It will be the first time in 20 years an English club will have paid a world record fee – when England striker Alan Shearer joined Newcastle United from Blackburn Rovers for £15m.
Everyone has those old pieces of clothing lying around that can be pulled on in a wash-day emergency. But Paul Pogba’s choice of attire as he visited a Manchester launderette looked far newer – and it might be a familiar sight around town from now on as thhe deal for the 23-year-old, who left United for £1.5m in 2012, is due to be completed in midweek.
The Old Trafford club still have to agree personal terms with Pogba, although that is expected to be a formality. As the Juventus midfielder awaits the completion of his move back to Old Trafford following a medical, he donned the United shirt ahead of time in a photo taken with the launderette’s staff.
The kit is the club’s official training gear for 2016-17, and Pogba was not alone as his new fans were also wearing United clothing to welcome the new star. Pogba’s return surpasses Wales forward Gareth Bale’s £85m move to Real Madrid in 2013 as the biggest transfer deal in history.
