Peace Corps CRSC celebrates 2016 Int'l Youths Day With Enthusiasm in Calabar

Celebration gathered momentum in Cross River State as an unprecedented crowed greeted the occasion with a show of solidarity and support for the youth advancement Internationally, Nationally, and Locally.

The Commandant of Peace Corps, Patriot Okweche Dominic who joined other prominent sons and daughters of the State in given meaning to the event described youths as a panacea for growth and development in any Nation.

He said, this years theme: ” Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production” was critically chosen, haven understood the complexity of nature and a measure to put the youths on a pedestal to skyrocket to achieving their dreams.

However, the Commandant commended the State Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for the involvement of youths in his Government. An example is Mr. Asu Okang, the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, a vibrant spirited youth, the SA on youths, Mr. Paul Abang Ajie, an energetic youth advocate and a host of others spanning across the 18 LGAs’ who has ensured that the Cross River State youths are given a sense of belonging at all times.

Further, Patriot Okweche posited that the Peace Corps of Nigeria as a youth body which is committed to National Creativity, has dedicated men who are ready at all times to drive the chain of development to greater heights. The commitment of the organization to unite the youths of the State and beyond, he said is unwavering, dogged and unflagging.

The event was colourful with a city walk in major streets of Calabar with impressive views and  climaxed at the international conference center after the planting of trees to boost afforestation inline with climate change in the State. The Commandant was also captured in camera while planting a greenish tree in commemoration of the event.
