Christian Eriksen has fallen smack from favor this season especially with the rise of young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo whos has well and truly made that position his own.
Eriksen’s chances this season have been far and in between being relegated mostly to a substitute role.
Now as Dutch paper Tipsbladet reports, there are chances the maestro nay rejoin one of his former clubs come the summer, most likely Ajax.
Eriksen is most likely poised to leave Old Trafford in the summer as he recently stated how he was unhappy with his playing time.
According to this report, he may be headed to Ajax and Danish legend Michael Laudrup is of the same conviction.
“When I look at the possibilities and where he has come from and where he can do fantastically well for a few more years, then Ajax will be a fantastic place,” Laudrup told ViaPlay.
“I also know that Ajax have mentioned that they are interested. After his cardiac arrest (at the 2021 European Championships), he was in Amsterdam rehabilitating. He knows the city, he knows the language and he knows the club,” he stated refencing there is a chance Ajax would still be interested in the midfielder.
“They will almost receive him as a king returning home,”he concluded.
Eriksen has come off the bench once in United’s last ten Premier League games being reduced to a spectator in all the rest.
That contributes to his well documented displeasure of not getting enough play time.
Eriksen’s frustrations coupled with INEOS’ vision for the club certainly has the Dane leaving at the end of the season.
INEOS are looking to cut down the club’s wage bill as well as age which means players in their 30s will not be spared, including Eriksen.
There is a also the feeling that the pace and the intensity of the Premier League is simply too much for Eriksen to handle as age is catching up to him and his recent cardiac issues.
