The area surrounding Manchester United’s academy base has been closed off after human remains were shockingly found yards away from the facility.

This is according to The Telegraph, who report the remains were discovered on Thursday afternoon by a member of the public in Kersal Dale woodland in Salford.

The area near The Cliff has since been sealed off pending investigation.

A pathologist who was called to the scene confirmed that the victims were human.

Speaking about the discovery, Det Supt Lewis Hughes from GMP’s Serious Crime Division assured the community that as disturbing and unsettling as the discovery was, they had enough presence in the area to compete inquiries.

“I want to assure the local community that although this is a disturbing and unsettling find, we have a large visible presence in the area to complete enquiries, provide reassurance and to listen to any concerns. I encourage anyone who may have relevant information to speak to these officers,” he said.

He went on to urge members of the public to come forward if anyone has seen any suspicious activity around the area in the past couple of days.

“Anyone who thinks they may have witnessed something suspicious in the Kersal Dale area over the last few days, could be key to unlocking what happened. I would ask that anyone who has any information that may be relevant to our enquiries, no matter how big or small, comes forward by calling 101 and quoting log number 2695 of 4 April 2024,” he implored the general public.
