Here's a 65% damage combo that's now possible for Zangief in Street Fighter 6 due to latest buff


Though Ryu and Jamie were the biggest winners of the most significant update for Street Fighter 6 so far, Zangief also received some attention from Capcom. The most notable of Zangief’s changes made it so that the first hit of his Overdrive Double Lariat could combo into his level 3 Super Art and Critical Art.






Of course, doing this would cause Zangief’s strongest attack to receive quite a bit of scaling, but it’s a nice option nonetheless. As such, Javits recently posted a clip of Zangief dealing a 65% damage combo (against characters with 10,000 stamina) that was only made possible with this buff.









The sequence begins with a Drive Rush cancelled into Zangief’s Headbutt command normal. Since this hit as a Punish Counter, Zangief had an extra +8 frames of advantage to work with. This game him enough time to combo into another Headbutt before Drive Rush cancelling it into yet another Headbutt.


As alluded to earlier, this combo would eventually end with Zangief cancelling his Overdrive Double Lariat into a Critical Art. Up to this point, the damage had accumulated to 3,927.


By the end of it all, the combo dealt a total of 6,577 points of damage with the Critical Art at the end dishing out 2,650 damage of that combo. It’s worth noting that Zangief’s Critical Art by itself deals 5,300 damage.
