Montage highlights how broken Ultra Street Fighter 4 was

The renaissance of the fighting game genre is upon us thanks to Street Fighter 4’s existence. While we should be thankful that this game was created, it’s undeniable that there were some broken elements to it, especially when looking back at it today.

Biglightning recently released a video that highlights how Ultra Street Fighter 4, the final version of Street Fighter 4, was a broken game. Needless to say, there are a lot of good points raised during the 28 minute video.

One defining aspect about Ultra Street Fighter 4 was its enormous focus on option selects. It was almost always necessary to learn option selects due to how back dashes had varying amounts of invincibility.

Of course, the topic of Elena would eventually come up. By the end of Ultra Street Fighter 4’s lifespan, Elena was generally considered to be the best character in the game due to a number of factors.

Not only did Elena have some of the most ridiculous high-low mix ups in the game, but she also had an Ultra that was aptly named “Healing.” Since characters generate Revenge Gauge (for Ultras) by taking or absorbing damage, Healing could potentially be used multiple times in the a single round.
