Red Bull Kumite 2024 New York featured amazing footage of Street Fighter 6 as only invited players, the Last Chance Qualifiers winner, and the Red Bull Kumite 2024 Play-In winner could compete. Every set ended up being a first-to-five so players had plenty of opportunities to adapt to their opponents’ habits.
Eventually, Broski was matched up against Bandits|MenaRD. This was sure to be an interesting match up as Broski was the only player at the event using A.K.I., a character that’s often been deemed a low tier in Street Fighter 6. Of course, MenaRD wasn’t going to make it easy on Broski as he opted to use Luke, one of the game’s clear top tiers.
Had this just been a typical first-to-two set, MenaRD would’ve won immediately without Broski really getting a chance to really show off what A.K.I. is capable of. Luckily, Broski began mounting an impressive comeback following the first two losses.
In addition to utilizing high damage combos, Broski would also be content with just waiting after inflicting the poison status against Luke. Indeed, A.K.I. is the type of character that can really take advantage of making opponents impatient.
Though Broski was behind by two games at the start, he would eventually take the lead against MenaRD with a score of 4-3 before MenaRD clutched out the set. Inevitably, MenaRD would win the entire event, but Broski ended up being the only one that could take MenaRD to game nine.
