The Anambra State Police command has stormed kidnappers hideout in Awgbu community in Orumba North local government local area of the state and recovered AK-47 Rifle with Two Magazines loaded with 50 Rounds of Ammunition.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement in Awka on Monday, said the security operative of command have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects.
According to Ikenga, following the smashing of a notorious Kidnap Gang on Friday night in Awgbu, Orumba North LGA, they are trialing the fleeing suspected kidnappers.
He said the police have intensified manhunt for the kidnappers who escaped from the scene of the shootout.

He said while combing the surrounding bushes on Saturday morning, Police and the Local Vigilante recovered a loaded AK-47 Rifle with Double Magazines containing 50 Rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
He disclosed that the weapons have been rendered safe and taken into custody for further investigation.
He also stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye had praised the diligence of the Joint Team and promised to reward them for their commitment to public safety.
“Meanwhile, the Command’s Special Anti Kidnapping Unit at Awkuzu has taken over the case for proper investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
The Commander of the Unit has assured that it will leave no stone unturned until the kidnap suspects are brought to justice.
Also the four male victims rescued from the kidnappers last Friday have all been re-united with their joyous families” he said.
