We’re not quite done with Season 1 DLC yet as Akuma is still en route to join Street Fighter 6 in the coming months, but Capcom is likely deciding on and finalizing choices for Season 2 right now and so we figured it’d be a good time to get our wishlist discussion going.
This week’s episode of Talk and Block is devoted to just that as Catalyst and I share our top picks for returning DLC fighters along with our reasonings behind each one.
We’ll share a few details on one of our common picks (we agreed on just two of the characters we discuss) as both of us felt like M. Bison could make for a good returner.
The evil dictator is indeed dead as of the end of Street Fighter 5, and did not come back during the next-in-chronological-order Street Fighter 3, so it’s been a minute or two since the world of Street Fighter last saw him.
While Capcom can clearly carry on the story without Bison, they’ve woven a lot of story threads through him as he serves as the call to action for many of his fellow Street Fighters. Whether its seeking to kill him, taking orders from him, or they’re in his sights, many, many characters are directly tied to Bison and so he tends to be a lightning rod for story expansions and developments.
As the main boss of Street Fighter 2 (as well as Alpha) Bison is also one of the most iconic figures in fighting games and has a ton of fans behind him. As such, it’s not hard to see many players eager to fork over a few extra bucks to get their hands on him.
What’s more, the recent inclusion of Ed and the new Ruined Lab stage saw developers add direct references to Bison as we see his trademark red hat in the middle of the new arena.
Said hat will levitate during Ed’s round win sequence (both characters use Psycho Power when they fight) and the giant, golden clone body in the background could very likely be the next one Bison inhabits.
In addition to sharing our choices (we come up with seven between the two of us, along with a few honorable mentions) we also consider whether or not the current four-character approach is the right call, or if Capcom should up that number to five or even six.
Check out our full discussion via the video below and please share your picks in the comments afterwards. Also, if you enjoy this video and aren’t yet subscribed to our YouTube Channel, we would greatly appreciate you doing so as it helps us continue to make this kind of content.
