Despite how pretty Tekken 8 is, there is something about the charm of the original Tekken and Virtua Fighter games that just can never quite be matched.
That’s why one modder named Chris is attempting to bring back these classic Tekken 2 and 3 looks to the modern era in all of their blocky polygonal glory.
These mods first caught our eye when X/Twitter user rolanbkl shared footage of Lee Chaolan vs. Nina Williams having a blocky battle, and we knew we needed more.
Luckily, it appears so far Chris has made Tekken 2 mods for Nina, Lee, Kazuya, and Paul along with Tekken 3 models for Jin and Bryan.
Now these mods do appear to have some more detail than their original PlayStation counterparts, but they certainly evoke the same feelings of nostalgia and early 3D fun.

There is a pretty decent chance we could see something like these come to Tekken 8 officially considering other fighting games like Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown and Samurai Shodown released retro costumes that brought their characters back to their 32 or 64 bit looks.
Until then, however, you can still find more information on these fun swaps on Chris’ Tekken Mods page.
