Tekken 8 Director Katsuhiro Harada wants to know what classic Tekken stages you'd like to see remade in the latest game

Tekken 8 has been in the hands of the masses for a little over a month now, and so far, the game seems to be a big hit. Outside of a handful of balance complaints (which every fighting game has at all times), the reception to the latest title has been very good, and so have sales.

The game’s developers have been fairly active in talking to the community about things to come and getting feedback from fans, and in a recent tweet response the game’s director Katsuhiro Harada talked a little a bit about some exciting potential classic content. Essentially, the longtime Tekken developer wants to know what classic Tekken stages fans would like to see added to Tekken 8.

It goes without saying (but I’m going to say it anyway) that Harada simply asking fans what they’d like to see and gauging interest does not guarantee anything of the like will come to fruition. That said, it does provide us a possible glimpse at what kind of content the development team might be looking at adding to Tekken 8 in the future.

The discussion began when one fan on Twitter asked Harada if we could get re-imagined original Tekken 1 stages added to Tekken 8 as DLC. From the sound of it, it’s definitely possible, but Harada took the time to explain to people that things aren’t as simple as just copy/pasting an old stage into the new game.

Developing something like a classic stage for the newest game on the market takes a lot of time, work, and money, so Harada is asking fans to see what the most popular requests are in an attempt to then consider what might be the best move to make here.

“These days, it takes an enormous amount of time and money to create a battle stage,” Harada began. “So if there are any stages from past Tekken series to be remake, we would like to listen to everyone’s requests and carefully select them.”

“Which of these stages would you guys like to see remake?” he concluded.

There are quite a few requests on Twitter already, and we know that Bandai Namco and the team behind Tekken 8 is taking stock of a lot of this stuff. The devs have confirmed, for example, that they’re taking down names of players who rage quit and abuse the game’s online systems, which are mainly coming from fan reports.

I say all this to say, if you’re hoping to see one of your favorite classic Tekken stages remade for Tekken 8, you probably want to reply to Harada here and share your request. This is probably the best chance you’ll ever get of doing so, so don’t squander it.
