The latest DLC contender for Street Fighter 6 has now been playable for a little over a week. Street Fighter 5’s Ed is available to purchase and play now, and the community has been actively diving into the lab to figure out what his strengths and weaknesses are.
Along with the recent Ed update, Street Fighter 6 also saw a small batch of balance changes that nerfed some characters while buffing others. With all of this in mind, Saishunkan|Nemo and Saishunkan|Higuchi recently sat down to create a collaborative Street Fighter 6 tier list post-update, which is the first tier list we’ve seen yet to actually include and rank Ed.
Nemo and Higuchi’s tier list features five categories. We see the rankings begin with S (the best) and descend down to D rank (the worst).
Throughout a good portion of Street Fighter 6’s lifespan before the recent update, it wasn’t uncommon to see people consider Ken, Luke, and JP as the best three characters in the game. As a result, Capcom nerfed all three of them, though JP certainly got hit the hardest with the nerf bat.
Despite seeing several significant nerfs, it appears that Nemo and Higuchi still believe that JP is one of the best characters in Street Fighter 6. On their newest tier list, the two top players placed JP as the #2 best fighter overall, with only Luke out scoring him and taking the #1 spot.
In a much more surprising twist, Higuchi and Nemo actually dropped Ken down to the #10 spot overall on the tier list. While Ken did receive a handful of nerfs to things like his throw loops (which still work, he just needs to walk forward and time them properly) and his Drive Rush jab, the fiery Shoto has proved not only popular, but strong in Street Fighter 6 over the last eight months or so.
As for Ed, Nemo and Higuchi placed the newest fighter in the B rank, which feels like a safe bet for the time being. He sits in B along with Zangief (who received some interesting buffs this time around), Lily, and E. Honda.

Nemo and Higuchi also released a video that features explanations for all of their placements, though it is entirely in Japanese. You can still view it below.
