Patch for Under Night In-Birth 2 causes interaction to behave completely differently between the PC and PlayStation versions

A new patch has recently dropped for Under Night In-Birth 2. Oddly, this patch causes a certain interaction to behave differently if performed exactly the same way on the PC and PlayStation versions of the game, suggesting that this could be an unintentional side effect.

More specifically, an option select on the PlayStation version of Under Night In-Birth 2 no longer appears to exist in the PC port. This information has been reported by SafeAndOne and Reioumu on Twitter.

Pressing down, forward, light attack, and EXS Action (3+A+D) all at the same time will cause a character to perform a Creeping Edge (roll) on the PlayStation. However, this same input will have a fighter attempt a throw instead on the PC version of the game.

It’s worth noting that down, forward, and EXS Action (3+D) is the normal input to perform a roll. Pressing light attack and EXS Action (A+D) at the same time will result in a throw.

Inputting 3+A+D in the PlayStation version of Under Night In-Birth 2 and in the previous update for the PC port resulted in a character performing a roll. With specific timing, this would also cause a character to throw escape if the opponent tried to go for a throw as they were doing this.

Typically, Under Night In-Birth 2 is played on the PlayStation 5 at tournaments, but there are plenty of players that only have access to Under Night In-Birth 2 on the PC. As such, this update is sure to cause problems for tournament goers as those on the PC can no longer practice the option select in preparation for competitions.

Needless to say, it would be ideal if the two ports of the game behaved the same way with the same inputs, but this currently isn’t the case. Check it out below:
