Mortal Kombat 1 fans won’t have to wait much longer to see more of the game’s next DLC fighter. The title’s official Twitter page announced this morning that the gameplay trailer for Peacemaker is set to drop tomorrow.
As a small teaser to tide the people over until then, the company shared a new clip of Peacemaker in action. This quick footage features a pre-fight clash between him and Sub-Zero, also showing the DLC character’s intro animation.
“Peace is a dish best served cold,” began the official Mortal Kombat Twitter page. “Peacemaker gameplay dropping tomorrow. #MK1.”
Peacemaker hails from his self-titled superhero television show and originates from DC Comics. In the show, the powerful fighter is portrayed by WWE superstar and actor John Cena, who is reprising his role here in Mortal Kombat 1.
As far as abilities go, the anti-hero has a ton at his disposal. He has peak human physical abilities, is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and has a mastery of various weapons, utilizes advance military weapons, is a top notch marksman, and much more.
When it comes to how the DLC character might actually play in Mortal Kombat 1, we currently don’t have too much to go off of. In his intro animation, we see Peacemaker activate his helmet and fire off a quick burst of energy to send the opponent flying back, which could be a potential hint at one of his abilities in-game.
What some fans seem to be worried about, though, is that with Peacemaker having an affinity for firearms NetherRealm Studios may have designed him to be a heavy zoning character. While that’s not an issue in and of itself, the company has received criticism over the years for making too many combatants in their fighting games fit that same archetype.
Regardless, all of the questions we have about Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1 should be answered tomorrow when his gameplay trailer drops. The character himself is set for release via early access on February 28.
