In the midnight hours, Michael Murray, Katsuhiro Harada and Kohei Ikeda hosted a livestream where details about Tekken 8’s post-release roadmap were revealed. Needless to say, a lot of interesting topics were covered throughout the event.
Though we were told right off the bat that there wouldn’t be any character reveals that night, we were provided an extended sneak peek at Eddy Gordo. Not only did we see gameplay, but we also saw him on the character select screen.
Additionally, the developers are working on making it so that players can have Eddy Gordo’s model being present on the main menu for those that are getting tired of only seeing Kazuya Mishima there. At one point, it was hinted at that this could be a feature extended for all characters in Tekken 8.
Upcoming iconic costumes will be released for Jin Kazama (Tekken 4), Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken 4), Jun Kazama (Tekken Tag Tournament 2) and Kazuya Mishima (Tekken 6). Each costume will be priced at 400 Tekken coins, or $3.99.
There will also be story expansions for the DLC characters. These expansions won’t be available for every individual character, but they’ll provide us with insight on how certain fighters fit in with Tekken 8’s main narrative.
It’s noted that the second update that will be released in late February or March won’t be focused on balance adjustments, but will instead be tweaking moves so that they work the way that the developers intended. The third update will happen sometime in April while more updates will be continued to be pushed out after May.
