Maintenance Foreman (Services)
The Maintenance Foreman (Services) is a crucial role responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the Services/Utilities department. This role involves managing a team of technical staff and on-site contractors to ensure the efficient and effective maintenance of all plants, networks and systems relating to utilities. The Maintenance Foreman will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality standards, optimizing resource utilization, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Performance Areas:
Team Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of technical staff and on-site contractors.
- Ensure efficient allocation of tasks and monitor performance.
- Develop and enhance the skills of the maintenance team.
Utilities Plant, Networks and Systems Maintenance:
- Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities for water treatment and reticulation, air compressor plants and reticulation, ammonia plant, ice water plant and reticulation, backup generators, transformers, motor control centres, electrical DBs, electrical reticulation networks, air handling units, cold and freezer rooms, steam reticulation network, fire sprinkler system, and pump station.
- Ensure timely response to maintenance requests and adherence to scheduled tasks.
- Maintain up-to-date job cards for all maintenance activities.
Inventory and Spare Parts Management:
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory.
- Ensure availability of necessary spare parts for maintenance activities.
Quality Control and Inspections:
- Conduct regular inspections on work done by the team and contractors.
- Maintain high-quality standards in maintenance work.
Audits and Compliance:
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of compliance within the team.
Technical Guidance and Project Management:
- Provide technical guidance to the maintenance team and contractors.
- Lead and execute maintenance projects, ensuring successful completion.
Budget Management:
- Manage maintenance budgets effectively, optimizing resources for maximum efficiency.
- Provide input into budget planning and cost control measures.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum Experience: 5 Years in a maintenance supervisory position, with knowledge in utilities or equivalent maintenance practices, standards, procedures, and activities.
- Preferred Experience: 7 Years in a maintenance supervisory position, preferably in a foreman position, with knowledge in utilities or equivalent maintenance practices, standards, procedures, and activities.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong technical background in plant and equipment maintenance and knowledge of various maintenance processes and systems.
- Leadership and Team Management: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team, and experience in developing the skills of team members.
- Project Management: Ability to plan, execute, and manage maintenance projects, with project coordination skills ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills for providing technical guidance and preparing reports, with the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Experience in budget management and cost control measures.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in time-sensitive situations.
