Tekken 8 is still a couple months out from launch, and it feels as though there’s quite a lot we don’t yet know about the final package.
As part of their continued IGN First coverage, the publication has now revealed the first look at the new Arcade Quest mode in action.
The footage appears to pick up after the initial opening and introductions with the avatars shown standing around and talking about visiting a place called Gong, which is apparently a beginner’s arcade that just got the new release of Tekken 8.
Following a brief cutscene upon entering the arcade, players are gifted a handful of customization items for both the avatar and HUD including a new health gauge, name plate and baseball cap.
Max gives the player a tutorial teaching how to use the new Heat mechanics before challenging them to a quick match to test out their new skills, which rewards experience points and in-game money.
It appears players will rank up similarly to online play with the ability to challenge seemingly anyone standing around the arcade to try and get promotions.
Interestingly, each character will have separate ranks when used with the story apparently focusing on the one that’s the highest level.
There’s of course a pretty in-depth avatar customization suite to make your little guy look how you want as well as change up the UI.
So far Arcade Quest is looking like Street Fighter 6’s Battle Hub turned into a single-player mode made to help players learn how to get better at Tekken.
It seems, at least at the beginning, aimed at newcomers, so we’re interested to see what this has to offer for more seasoned fighting game players.
Also, there’s no voice acting, so prepared to do quite a bit of reading too.
And remember, this isn’t the main story mode for Tekken 8 either, which we’ve yet to really see.
