Manchester United has officially announced their squad for the remaining portion of the Premier League season, following the close of the January transfer window. The squad list comprises 21 senior players, with additional players eligible from the Under-21 category, which includes talents such as Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojliund due to their age. Other young players like Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are also exempt from the senior list as Under-21 registered players automatically qualify to participate.
Premier League regulations required teams to finalize their rosters post-January window, with a cap of 25 players for the official list. This list can include a maximum of 17 players who are not classified as ‘homegrown’. Manchester United’s submission includes eight players who meet the homegrown criteria, leaving room for the potential inclusion of up to four free agents if desired.
This announcement also confirms the departure of three players in the winter transfer period for various reasons. Jadon Sancho has returned on loan to Borussia Dortmund following a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag. Donny van de Beek has made a temporary move to Eintracht Frankfurt, and Sergio Reguilon has transferred to Brentford for the rest of the season after a break clause in his loan agreement from Tottenham Hotspur was activated.
