It’s been revealed that the Koraidon & Miraidon, Ogerpon, Terapagos, and Sprigatito, Fuuecoco, & Quaxly Spirits from Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC are being released as the third Spirit Board event out of four that’s celebrating Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s fifth anniversary.
This particular Spirit Board event will first be available on February 9, 2024 and last until February 14, 2024. Notably, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet were released on November 18, 2022 while The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC finished releasing on January 11, 2024.
It’s certainly interesting how content from newer games are continuing to find their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate like this, even if they are just Spirits. We also saw this we’ve some of the other Spirit Board events that are being added to the game to commemorate Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s fifth anniversary.
The first batch of Spirits ended up being Rauru from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Deep Cut from Splatoon 3, Noah & Mio from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Oatchi from Pikmin 4 which were added on January 12, 2024.
With the second wave of fifth anniversary Spirits, we received Power Pro-Kun, Aoi Hayakawa, & Mamoru Ikari from the MLB Power Pros series, The 13 Sentinel Pilots from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Zagreus from Hades Spirits on January 25, 2024.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, we’ve been getting Spirits every two weeks. Considering this, it’s likely that we’ll get the fourth and final Spirit Board event that’s meant to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate around February 22, 2024.
Rumors suggest that Nintendo is wanting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Smash Bros. series throughout 2024, so it’s curious to see that these Spirit Board events are being released in just the early part of the year. We’ve already theorized that Nintendo could already be working on the next entry in the Super Smash Bros. series based on the rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to be announced relatively soon.
In other words, there could be more news related to the Super Smash Bros. series coming this month, especially when considering that the Sora amiibo is scheduled to be released on February 16, 2024. Perhaps we’ll hear something in the next Nintendo Direct, which is likely going to be sometime this month.
