When it comes to the Shoryuken (Dragon Punch) in modern Street Fighter games, generally when we see this special move used in combos it’s used as a combo ender to tack on damage. Short of seeing a light DP anti-air then a follow-up juggle, it isn’t often that we see multiple Dragon Punches used within the same combo.
In Street Fighter 6, Ken actually does have a few instances where he can get a handful of DPs in one juggle combo, and this is most often seen when he cancels into level 3 super from a successful Dragon Punch which causes the initial hit to whiff and bypass the cinematic of the hard-hitting maneuver. However, with the proper set up and some human ingenuity, Ken can hit an absurd amount of Dragon Punches all in the same combo, and Javits shows us how it’s done.
In order to get this combo cookin’, Javits begins by having a cornered Dhalsim shoot an OD arching fireball over Ken. With a couple of whiffed and blocked moves, Javits sets up the perfect timing to make the magic happen.
The idea here is to time it correctly so that the arching fireball comes back around and hits Ken at just the right time to interrupt one of his Dragon Punches, which allows him to do more within the same combo. Before that, though, Dhalsim and Ken trade blows, with Ken using a light punch DP to start, and this sees the recovery of the move cut short allowing Ken to perform another shortly thereafter.
With the first DP on the board, the OD fireball from before creeps back up and hits Ken as he’s doing a second DP, which again cuts the recovery short. Ken is able to get another light punch DP here, and the opponent is juggled high enough here for Ken to land what is now the fourth raw DP in the combo.
The fourth is canceled into level 3 super, which as previously mentioned, makes the cinematic hit whiff and sees Ken essentially perform two more flaming Dragon Punches bringing the count up to 6.
To close it all out, Ken gets one more heavy Dragon Punch at the very end, which brings us to a total of 7 Shoryukens all in the same combo. Though this combo is meant to be more stylish and impractical than anything, it also does a respectable amount of damage when all is said and done.
