Reps Member Condemns Renewed Herdsman Attack On Benue Community, Demands Urgent Action

The Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives and Chairman, House Standing Committee on National Inland Waterways, Honourable Ojotu Ojema, has condemned the recent herdsmen attack on Okokolo Community in Agatu Local Government, Benue State.

Suspected herdsmen in the late hours of Thursday, 18th January, 2024 reportedly attacked Okokolo Community, resulting in the death of four civilians and one wounded military personnel.

According to a statement signed by Olikita Ekani the Media Aide to House of Reps Member Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Ojema, expressed sadness and condemned the renewed aggression, labeling it a grim reminder of past calamities in the region.

The lawmaker urged the federal government to swiftly intervene, preventing further escalation to neighboring communities in Agatu and Apa LGAs..

Ojema paid tribute to the families of all the military personnel who lost their lives, saying they were martyred for trying to defend their father land.

He assured the people of Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency that he is working relentlessly in collaboration with all traditional rulers, religious, political Leaders and relevant security agencies in order to bring lasting solution to the lingering insecurity in the Federal Constituency.

He also called on the people to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to security agencies, urging them not to take laws into their hands.
