The Warriors’ home game scheduled for Friday against the Dallas Mavericks has been postponed after the sudden death of Golden State assistant coach Dejan Milojević.
No date has been announced for a makeup game.
Milojević, 46, suffered a heart attack at a team dinner Tuesday night in Salt Lake City and was pronounced dead Wednesday morning.
The Warriors’ game scheduled for Wednesday night in Utah against the Jazz was already postponed. No makeup date has been announced for that game, either.
Golden State’s next scheduled game is next Wednesday at home against the Atlanta Hawks.
Milojević had been on head coach Steve Kerr’s staff with the Warriors since 2021, working primarily with the big men. The Belgrade, Serbia native played 14 years in Europe as a 6-foot-7 big who won three Adriatic League MVP awards (2004-06).
He was credited with helping develop Nikola Jokić, the two-time NBA MVP of the Denver Nuggets, when he was a young center in Serbia. Kevon Looney also credited Milojević with helping him improve his rebounding during the Warriors’ run to the NBA title in 2022.
The Warriors’ date in Utah was set to be the final game of a four-game trip. Golden State currently sits at 18-22 in 12th place in the Western Conference.
The game against Dallas was scheduled to air on ESPN, which will now broadcast the Brooklyn Nets’ game in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
