The NetherRealm Studios community has been playing Mortal Kombat 1 for a full three months now, and though the chaos of Kameos, DLC newcomers and updates makes tier ranking the roster a somewhat daunting task, pro player Brad “END|Scar” Vaughn has taken it on.
Scar has proven a force to be reckoned with in both the previous Mortal Kombat entries, winning MK11 at Combo Breaker 2019 and taking home gold from three different majors during the days of Mortal Kombat X. Read on to see what he thinks of the MK1 cast.
Scar divides the game’s 26 available main roster members across just four different tier categories. The first is S+ rank and it includes his top five fighters: Johnny Cage, Ashrah, Kenshi, Liu Kang, and Sindel.
This particular tier list does not include Kameos directly though Scar does tend to note when a given character relies on certain Kameo assists to access their best tools. For instance, he’s sure to say that Baraka all but needs Stryker to be played optimally.
The second tier group is S and this is where the bulk of the roster resides. Scar places 12 characters here, then seven in A tier, and finally just one in the lowly B tier.
We notice that none of the game’s male ninjas (more or less the trademark and most recognizable facets of the franchise) are very strong, at least according to Scar. Four of these fighters are in the second to last group while the other is around the middle of the tier above.
