Ambassador Agim Godwin Apple, a Finnish based Cross Riverian and CEO of AFDEVCO NATURAL HONEY, has shared an inspiring vision for Cross River State, Nigeria, highlighting its potential to become the world’s leading producer of high-quality chocolate and beverages products.

With an abundance of natural resources, including honey, cocoa, groundnuts, maize, rice, yam, other forest nuts and an expanse of arable land, Cross River is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing global demand for premium products.

Ambassador Apple, an expert in bee farming production with years of international exposure and experience in the honey bee value chain emphasized that the state’s rich agricultural landscape and favorable climate provide the perfect conditions for cultivating these valuable crops.

He pointed out that honey, often referred to globally as liquid gold, not only enhances the flavor of beverages but also adds nutritional benefits, making it an essential ingredient for artisanal chocolate production for various consumption.

In a message to the Cross River State government and the newly established South-South Development Commission, Amb. Godwin Apple, urged policymakers to invest in infrastructure and support systems that would foster the growth of the local chocolate and beverage industry.

He said: “With the right investments and support systems, Cross River State and the South South region can transform our agricultural sector to create jobs, boost our agro economy and put Cross River on the global map as a center of excellence for chocolate and beverages.

Continuing, he asserted that “these areas sit on a goldmine, but we have to come together as a region to harness the opportunities which have tremendous advantages that will bring the benefits.

“The potential benefits of this initiative are enormous. By harnessing local resources and empowering farmers through education and sustainable practices, Cross River can not only enhance its own economy but also contribute to the global market with high-quality, ethically produced goods”, Amb. Apple noted.

As the world turns towards organic natural products, Cross River State has a unique opportunity to lead the charge.

Engr. Apple’s vision is not just about chocolate and beverages; it’s about creating a sustainable future for the people of Cross River and elevating her agricultural heritage to new heights.

Concluding, he said the collaboration between the government, local farmers and businesses like AFDEVCO NATURAL HONEY can pave the way for a thriving industry that benefits those under the value chain.

It’s time for Cross River State to embrace its potential and take necessary steps to become the world’s leading producer of chocolate and beverages. With this in place we can make this dream a reality.
