BREAKING: Pope Francis Dies At 88, Vatican Says

Pope Francis, the revered pontiff of the Catholic Church has died at 88, the Vatican has announced.

Francis, who became the first Latin-American pontiff in 2013 and was one of the oldest popes in the church’s history, died weeks after he was discharged from a Rome hospital having battled a life-threatening case of pneumonia in both lungs.

His medical team said his condition had stabilized, allowing for him to return to his Casa Santa Marta residence back at the Vatican.

But barely two weeks after leaving hospital, he delighted the faithful by making a surprise appearance at St. Peter’s Square.
