Andre Onana decides on next move

Andre Onana’s time at Manchester United has been anything but smooth since his £47.2m arrival from Inter Milan in 2023.

The Cameroon international has faced relentless criticism over the past two seasons.

He has struggled for consistency in a United side that has crumbled defensively under the spotlight.

His performance in last week’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon only added to the scrutiny.

A costly late error allowed Rayan Cherki to equalise and leave the tie hanging at 2-2.

Onana was then left out of the starting lineup entirely for United’s 4-1 defeat away to Newcastle on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim opting to hand Altay Bayindir a chance.

But despite the growing uncertainty over his future and United’s plans for a major summer clear-out, Onana has made his position clear.

Andre Onana wants to stay at Old Trafford

According to Chris Wheeler’s report for the Daily Mail, the 29-year-old wants to stay at Old Trafford beyond this season, despite attracting interest from clubs across Europe and the Saudi Pro League.

Onana and his family are understood to have settled well in the north-west, having purchased a house earlier this year.

The keeper is determined to fight for his United career rather than seek a move away.

The decision now puts the spotlight firmly back on Amorim.

Amorim will have to weigh up whether to persist with Onana or look for alternatives, with pressure mounting to make changes as the club’s struggles continue.

Aaron Ramsdale has been a name mentioned on United’s radar.

It could yet develop into a key battle between player and coach as Amorim searches for results to ease growing questions over his own long-term future at Manchester United.
