Ruben Amorim is facing growing pressure at Manchester United following their latest heavy defeat to Newcastle United.

The Red Devils were convincingly beaten 4-1 at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe’s side exposed more of United’s familiar weaknesses.

That loss has left Amorim’s team stuck in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Concerns are mounting over the lack of progress under his management.

Despite the fact Amorim is still new in the job, questions are now being asked about whether he is the right man to turn United’s season around.

Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown has revealed the manager is under pressure.

As well as internal discussions underway within the club.

Mick Brown delivers Ruben Amorim sack verdict

“Ruben Amorim is definitely under pressure,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Serious questions are starting to be asked, because things haven’t been good enough.”

Brown also suggested Manchester United are preparing for a summer of major changes to help reshape the squad for Amorim.

“A lot will depend on what Man United can do in the transfer market,” Brown explained.

“They’re speaking publicly about how they haven’t got any money, but they’re also preparing to sell some of the current players to raise funds.”

Brown even claimed some high-profile names could be involved in the summer clear-out.

“The likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and more have been spoken about,” he added.

Brown admitted the board will expect immediate improvement if Amorim is backed with new players.

“But then if they can bring in players who will suit Amorim’s system, you expect things will improve,” he said.

“If they don’t or can’t back him in the window, I don’t see how there can be any improvements, and if they do and things still don’t get better, we know what usually happens.”

Brown concluded by warning that unless results turn around fast, the pressure on Amorim will only intensify.

“That pressure is only going to grow and the only way to change that is for results to get better,” Brown stressed.
