RED BLUFF — Chico Electric presented the 2025 NC “Cec” Nielsen Memorial Founders Sustainability Award to Tehama Angus Ranch on Friday morning.
Tehama Angus Ranch was started in 1943 by Bill Borror’s parents, Dale and Inez. For decades, the Borror family has been the sole owner and operator of their ranch, which is in its fourth generation. According to Chico Electric President and CEO Norm Nielsen, the family takes pride in developing and raising purebred Angus genetics, hay crops, and almond and walnut orchards that will guide their ranch for generations.
“Their philosophy does not follow industry fads; they just simply build programs based on solid research, work ethic and sound practice,” Nielsen added.

In addition to a sculpture made by a local artist, Angus Ranch received commendations from the offices of State Senator Brian Dahle and U.S. Congressman Doug LaMalfa.
LaMalfa and state Assemblyman James Gallagher attended the event, while Dahle did not attend but sent a representative.
“I have always loved being here for the presentation of this award, one, because I think it recognizes multi-generational families, who are making these key investments,” Gallagher said.
He lamented that the state does not follow Chico Electric founder Cec Nielsen’s three rules. Those rules include doing what one says, taking care of customers, and creating a sustainable business to serve a community. Nielsen said this award is symbolic of those principles. It was first given out to the Carriere Family Farms in 2017. Last year’s recipient was Gorill Ranch.
“Without question, Tehama Angus Ranch deserves this award,” Nielsen said. “An interesting common thread … all nine recipients share similar values when it comes to their operation, all are family-owned with a common love between generations, all are innovative and each respective owner/leadership team is actively engaged in the latest technologies.”
Donation
Chico Electric also donated $5,000 to Red Bluff’s State Theatre on Thursday morning. Theater board members Bill Cornelius, Christy Forward and Kevin Borror were at the event to accept the check. Cornelius shared that when the theater was in rough shape and needed some money, the first group they went to was Chico Electric.
“What can I say to all of you?” Cornelius asked. “Because many of you are in the Ag farm community, without the Ag farm community, that theater wouldn’t exist.”
He also announced the State Theatre will have air conditioning soon.
This year, Chico Electric is celebrating its 65th anniversary of business.
