Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has admitted his long goal drought became a “vicious cycle” as poor team form and personal struggles combined during a difficult season.
The 22-year-old ended his 21-game drought with a goal against Leicester City on March 16.
He helped United to a 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

That strike, his first since December 12, was followed up by a match-winning goal for Denmark against Portugal during the March international break.
But despite that momentum, the Dane’s overall numbers reflect a challenging campaign in England.
Hojlund has scored just three times in 26 Premier League appearances this season.
Across all competitions, he has registered eight goals and two assists in 41 appearances.
His lack of form has prompted questions about his long-term future at Old Trafford.
Speculation has seen him linked to a potential move to Italy in the summer window.
Ahead of United’s Europa League clash with Lyon later tonight, Hojlund reflected on the barren spell in an interview with Disney+ Denmark, as relayed by SportWitness.
Rasmus Hojlund opens up on goalscoring woes
“It was a vicious circle,” he said.
“We didn’t play that well as a team, and it also affected me.
“But I’m not the type to lie down and give up.”
The forward stressed that his commitment never wavered, even as the goals dried up.
“That’s also why I played and started in those games,” Hojlund explained.
“It’s because I’ve continued to work for the team and on my own game.
“I don’t just sit down and say: ‘It’s great that I haven’t scored in 21 games.
“I sit myself down and look at my game to see what I can do better.”

Despite the personal frustration, Hojlund made it clear that he remained self-critical and determined to improve.
“I also stand somewhere and think, ‘Why the hell is it that I can’t score?’
“Where is it that it’s going wrong?”
While his recent goals offer hope of a turning point, his overall record raises concern about United’s lack of firepower this season.
With the club expected to miss out on Champions League qualification, the Red Devils will be under pressure to review their attacking options.
But for now, Hojlund is focused on rebuilding confidence – and proving that his struggles were only temporary.
