Troops rescue four kidnapped victims in Taraba

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnapped victims in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

 

Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Olubodunde Oni, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, April 4, 2025, said the victims have since been reunited with their families.

 

“As part of its continued efforts to ensure peace and security in Taraba State, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another major success under the ongoing military operation code named OPERATION LAFIYAN JAMAA,” the statement read. 

 

“The operation, aimed at flushing out bandits and other criminal elements, has significantly restored peace across many communities in the state. One such area is Andamin community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, where the youth have expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the Nigerian Army. 

 

“During a solidarity visit to the troops’ camp in Andamin, the Youth Leader, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the entire youth body, commended the dedication and commitment of the troops in maintaining peace and security in the region. He acknowledged the visible improvement in the security situation and pledged continuous support to the troops.

 

“In a show of goodwill and appreciation, the youths of Andamin have also promised to sink a borehole at the camp site to aid the troops’ operations and welfare, with the project scheduled for completion within three days.

 

“In a related development, on 3 April 2025, troops of 6 Brigade responded swiftly to credible intelligence on an ongoing kidnapping incident in Kallong village, also in Karim Lamido LGA. 

 

“The troops moved quickly to the location, prompting the kidnappers to flee, abandoning their victims. As a result of this prompt intervention, four kidnapped persons were successfully rescued and have since been reunited with their families.

 

“The Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the gallant troops for their swift and professional conduct, and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to securing all communities within its area of responsibility. He further urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.

 

“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, and calls on all peace loving citizens to continue supporting the efforts of the military in restoring lasting peace to Taraba State.”
