The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Calabar chapter has suspended its one week solidarity strike which began last week on the 2nd of May. The ASUU chairman, Dr. Tony Inyang, in a text message to its members thanked the unionists for being in solidarity with Dr. Ndifon of the Medical College whose wife and daughter were kidnapped and Barr. Iniama whose son was likewise kidnapped.
As at today the kidnappers are yet to free the abducted persons. ASUU will resume teaching today 11th of May while it continues studying the recommendations of a special committee set up to tackle the security challenges in the campus.
