Anambra Govt Inaugurates Security Supervisory Committee

The Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has formally inaugurated a new committee to oversee state security.

The inauguration took place on Tuesday at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.

The committee comprises the Governor, the Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, the Special Adviser on Security, and representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Others include the Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Security, the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Mayors of the twenty-one local government areas, and legal representatives from the Ministry of Justice.

This initiative arises in response to increasing concerns regarding insecurity and threats to public safety in the area.

The committee is tasked with several responsibilities, including ensuring that the Agunechemba Units and their members are properly registered in compliance with legal requirements, monitoring their activities, and enhancing the overall security situation in the state.

During the inauguration, Governor Soludo highlighted the pressing need for innovative strategies to tackle the challenges of crime and social unrest.

He remarked that insecurity is a complex issue necessitating a collaborative effort, and emphasized that the committee will act as a crucial platform for cooperation between government entities and the community, aimed at fostering a safer environment for all residents of Anambra.

The event was attended by notable individuals, including key security officials, traditional leaders, and local group representatives.
