Mortal Kombat 1 just saw a new update to the game that adds the latest DLC character, returning villain Quan Chi, to the main playable roster. Along with this patch came balance adjustments, some new quality of life features, and of course, additional in-game content.
The Seasonal Fatality pack is now fully released with the new Winter Fatality now being available to use. Footage of this special Christmas finisher has been uploaded to the interwebs, and this particular Fatality has everything you could ever want out of, well… a holiday-themed Fatality.
The footage of Mortal Kombat 1’s Winter Fatality comes from none other than TQT on X (formerly Twitter). This Fatality is actually called “Brain Freeze,” and you’ll have to be up close to the opponent to perform it properly.
When this finisher is activated, the entire stage magically transforms into a frosty winter wonderland. There’s snow flying everywhere, the ground and scenery is fully covered in it, and there are even some pine trees in the back for that added holiday feeling.
Things are so nice and peaceful right up until the character who performs the Fatality pulls out a large candy cane and starts beating their foe with it. The cane breaks over their head on impact, and then the rest of the jagged holiday treat is used to impale the opponent and leave them stuck in the ground.
While pinned to the floor, a set of demonic reindeer that clearly came straight from the NetherRealm race into view dragging a sleigh with someone dressed as Santa Claus riding it. Some fans on Twitter have pointed out that this figure is actually Shao Krampus — an alternate look for General Shao that can actually be purchased from the in-game store — but I like to call him Santa Kahn for the sake of the pun, okay?!
The reindeer trample the opponent until the sleigh beheads them, and it just wouldn’t be a good Mortal Kombat Fatality without a little razzle dazzle to close it out. The foe’s head goes flying up into the air and Shao Krampus catches it in a present box where it will undoubtedly be given to some unsuspecting child on the naughty list this year.
You can grab Mortal Kombat 1’s Winter Fatality right now by purchasing the Seasonal Fatality bundle. This will run you roughly $10 USD (or 1,200 in-game Dragon Krystals), and it will also grant you access to the Halloween and Thanksgiving Fatalities that were released over the last couple of months.
