Cypress Landing RV Park is helping keep Covington County cleaner through its participation in Alabama’s Adopt-A-Mile program. Volunteers have already started working to clean litter along the roadside on Hwy. 29.
Known for its eco-friendly practices, Cypress Landing RV Park has already earned recognition as a certified butterfly sanctuary by the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) and serves as a designated stop on the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail. The park boasts three thriving butterfly gardens and a flourishing community vegetable garden, all of which support pollinators and sustainable living.
The Adopt-a-Mile program is a natural extension of the park’s environmental initiatives, ensuring that the surrounding area remains litter-free while promoting community involvement. Through regular cleanups, volunteers from Cypress Landing RV Park and the broader community will help maintain the roadway’s beauty, demonstrating their shared responsibility for Alabama’s natural landscape.
“We’re thrilled to see local businesses and organizations like Cypress Landing RV Park stepping up to help keep our highways clean,” said Christy Waddell, State Adopt A Mile Coordinator. “Their commitment to environmental stewardship sets a great example for other businesses and residents in the area.”
Cypress Landing RV Park hopes their involvement will inspire others to take action by adopting additional stretches of roadway throughout Covington County.
“Keeping our roads clean is a team effort,” added Brown. “We encourage other businesses, community groups, and individuals to join us in making a positive impact. If everyone commits to just one mile, together we can keep Covington County’s roads beautiful for years to come.”
