Looks like there will be 4 free fighters at a time
Out of all the fighting games at the time, Granblue Fantasy Versus got arguably hit the hardest by the pandemic three years ago, but it’s got a new lease on life.
Cygames and Arc System Works have now officially released Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising for everyone following the early access period for the Digital Deluxe Edition buyers.
Versus Rising builds off of the strengths of the first game while adding in new characters, content, mechanics and more to the experience.
The game is launching with 28 playable characters including some brand new additions including Anila, Siegfried, Grimnir and Nier on top of everyone available from the first game.
On top of the main Versus mode, GBVSR features an expanded version of their co-op beat ’em up-ish Story Mode, an improved Training Mode, Arcade Mode, overhauled lobby Room Matches, Ranked and Casual online and more like the Grand Bruise! mini game competitions.
Unlike the first game, Rising also has rollback netcode and cross platform play across all current systems.
Cygames is offering a free-to-play version of Granblue Rising too that’ll give players a taste of basically everything the game has to offer except for private room matches.
The free roster will rotate every week with Gran, Djeeta, Zeta and Siegfried featured here at launch.

We’ll have more impressions of the free version and game in general in the coming days.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam for $50 for the base version and $75 for the Deluxe Edition including the Character Pass Part 1, additional colors and more.
