Loki, chained up in the underworld for his misdeeds, announced himself as the Sun God who will bring about the end of the world. In the manga series, the Sun God is revered as a savior figure, but Loki has been represented as a God of Destruction by the Giants from the start of the Elbaf arc.

Loki referring to himself as the Sun God hints at the legendary devil fruit power passed down in Elbaf’s royal bloodline, from his father King Harald to him. It is said to be powerful enough for Loki to slay his father to obtain this devil fruit power. That is why the King slayer is labeled as the accursed prince and the shame of Elbaf in the homeland of the Giants.

So, what could be the potential devil fruit that pushed Loki to the extreme length of killing his own father? Let’s find out.

What Is Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece

One Piece chapter 1142 showcases the nightmares of the giant children becoming a reality, which included the mythical creatures centered around Norse mythology. But, was it Loki’s power or one of the new God’s Knights members?

We are almost sure that Loki’s devil fruit will be a Mythical Zoan-type devil fruit, as these fruits are usually reserved for the stronger figures. Thus, let’s start predicting what Loki’s devil fruit power is based on the clues we have until now:

1. Surtr

In manga chapter 1141, Ripley stated that lightning and fire are the biggest weaknesses of Elbaf as their nation is entirely built on top of tall and massive trees. Now, Loki is confirmed to have Ragnir, a lightning-summoning hammer similar to Mjolnir. So, the lightning part has been covered already, and the fire part is yet to be addressed.

Yes, the lightning on impact creates fire, but I think there is more to it. During Big Mom’s flashback, Mother Carmel mentioned that Sun God mitigated the chaos caused by child Linlin with the powers of fire. Now, Loki, calling himself the Sun God, points to him having a fire-related devil fruit.

There are already two fire-based devil fruit powers, namely Mera Mera no Mi (Flame Flame fruit) and Magu Magu no Mi (Magma Magma fruit). So, Oda can utilize a mythical figure with the powers of fire, namely Surtr from Norse mythology, for the new Mythical Zoan devil fruit.

If you aren’t aware, Surtr is a fire giant and also the ruler of the fire realm, Muspelheim. You must have seen him in Thor movies and the recent God of War Ragnarok game. He is seen playing a vital role in Ragnarok in the Norse Mythology, so it could be a fitting power for Loki.

2. Nika the Destroyer or Evil Nika

The people of Elbaf have various interpretations of Nika. The most common belief is that Nika is the savior of slaves who spreads joy everywhere he goes. However, there is also a contrasting belief that this legend is the destroyer of the world. This version of Nika was seen when one of the kids’ fear of evil Nika turns into a reality.

Dr. Vegapunk once said that devil fruits are the manifestation of the dreams or wishes of people around the world. So, people wishing for Nika resulted in the Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika devil fruit. Now, we have learned that there are also people who seemingly dream of the evil destroyer version of Nika. So this could potentially result in an alternate version of Nika.

Loki wants to be the next Sun God aka Nika, so Oda could bestow on him the power of the evil Nika. If this turns out to be true, it will be a complete opposite to Luffy’s powers.

3. Shapeshifting Powers

Alternatively, Loki is always known as a trickster and shapeshifter in the mythology as well as in comics. So, Oda sensei can opt for an illusion-based power, which lets him take on any form and their powers as he desires. That’s an overpowered and tailor-made devil fruit power for Loki.

If not, there are still options such as Fenrir, Jörmungandr, Nidhogg, and more, which are roaming in the form of nightmares currently in the nation of the giants. Any devil fruit power inspired by Norse mythology is well-suited for Loki. These are the powers that could potentially become Loki’s devil fruit powers soon.

As Loki has been freed by Luffy, we may see him use his devil fruit powers in the upcoming chapter of the One Piece manga. In the meantime, what’s your favorite pick for Loki’s devil fruit? Do let us know in the comments below.
