A year after Sir Jim Ratcliffe claimed his 27.7% stake in Manchester United, outbidding Sheikh Jassim, a lot has changed at the club.
The INEOS owner has carried out a series of controversial cost-cutting exercises to ease the financial pressures caused by years of economic mismanagement.
However, Sheikh Jassim hasn’t given up on owning United after losing out to INEOS.
Centre Devils can now reveal that a source close to Jassim has announced that the Sheikh remains interested in the club and is ready to re-enter the bidding for the club should it be open again.
Interestingly, the Sheikh is interested in full ownership or just taking over the Glazers’ 72.3% stake, working alongside Ratcliffe.
This move aligns with the source’s comments: “The goal remains clear, Glazers Out.”
Back in December, it was revealed that Jassim was still interested, with another source commenting: “Sheikh Jassim is still a rich guy. He is still a United fan. He is not going to rush off and try another Premier League club.
They continued: “If the opportunity to buy the whole of Manchester United arose again at some point in the future, it is hard to see there not being a big level of interest. The plans are still there.”
