Investors lose ₦700m as BUA Foods, Daarcomm, others drag down equities market

Investors lost ₦700 billion on the trading floor of the Nigerian equities market on Friday.

This follows the dip in the share prices of stocks like BUA FOODS, DAAR COMMUNICATION (Daarcomm), and ARADEL amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization dipped to ₦67.4 trillion from ₦68.1 trillion posted by the bourse on Thursday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 108,049.47 points from 109,171.82 points recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 36 stocks advanced and 28 stocks declined, while 56 stocks remained unchanged in 15,410 deals.

ROYALEX, UPDC and RED STAR EXPRESS led other gainers with 10%, 9.88% and 9.09% growth each in prices to close at N0.99, N3.78 and N6.00 from the previous N0.90, N3.44 and N5.55 per share.

BUA FOODS, DAAR COMMUNICATION, and ARADEL led other price decliners with 10%, 9.09%, and 6.90% dip in share prices to close at N373.50, N0.70 and N530.30 from the previous N415.00, N0.77 and N569.30 per share.

On the volume index, STERLING NIGERIA led trading with 88 million shares in 188 deals followed by ACCESS CORP which traded 29 million shares in 494 deals.

VERITASKAP traded 21 million shares in 110 deals.

On the value index, DANGOTE CEMENT traded stocks worth N2.4 billion in 879 deals followed by SEPLAT which traded equities worth N1.8 billion in 53 deals.

PRESCO traded shares valued at N1.1 billion in 248 deals.
