It’s been revealed that Tekken 8 has won the Fighting Game of the Year at the Dice Awards 2025 ceremony. Tekken 8 managed to win over Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, Blazing Strike, and Underdogs.

Notably, this is the second time that the Tekken series has ever won this award. The only other time occurred 23 years ago with Tekken 4. Back then, the other nominees were Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Virtua Fighter 4.

The representative for Bandai Namco shared a few words about the future of Tekken 8 as he collected the award on behalf of the development team.

“We’ve taken bold steps by resurrecting legendary characters. And we’re thrilled by having a lot more content to come for Tekken 8. This year, we also had our best Tekken World Tour.

“The message we’re going to send to our community is that this is just the beginning. There’s a lot more to come for Tekken 8 and we can’t wait to share it with you.”

Of course, odds are fairly high that Anna Williams will be joining the roster in Season 2 based on what we saw in the recent trailer. We also recently shared five classic characters that we’re hoping to see at some point now that Season 2 is getting close.
