Valencia, amid their financial struggles, has indicated that they are open to parting with Javi Guerra, their promising central midfielder, for a sum around €40m (£34.2m).
The 20-year-old has risen to prominence in the 2023-24 season, appearing 17 times across various competitions and contributing three goals and an assist.
Despite having a release clause of €100m (£85.7m) in his contract, which extends to June 2027, Valencia is reportedly prepared to accept a considerably lower offer, as per Gazzetta dello Sport via Sports Mole.
Juventus is said to be in the mix with a bid of €25m (£21.4m), but this is unlikely to meet Valencia’s valuation for a 2024 transfer.
Manchester United’s interest in Guerra, a Spain Under-21 international, is gaining momentum, and they are expected to intensify their pursuit next year.
Newcastle United is also keeping tabs on the talented midfielder, who made his first-team debut in a La Liga match against Sevilla in April.
Guerra, having been integrated into Valencia’s senior squad for this season, has made 15 appearances in La Liga, mirroring his overall contributions of three goals and an assist.
Despite his recent contract renewal, Valencia seems resigned to losing him due to the significant interest he has attracted.
Valencia’s coach Ruben Baraja has previously advised Guerra to remain focused amidst the speculation. “The process with him has been very fast in every way,” Baraja commented in September.
“He must keep calm and manage the situation, and we must help him focus on his daily work.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United is reportedly on the hunt for several central midfielders next summer. The club is open to offers for Casemiro, and Donny van de Beek is also likely to depart.
The decision on Sofyan Amrabat’s permanent acquisition from Fiorentina remains pending.
