February 13, 2025 BROOKLYN, New York – NYPD arrested a man who posed as an ICE agent then tried to rape a woman in broad daylight in Brooklyn.

Leon Howell, 43, from Brooklyn has been charged with the following: Rape 1st degree, Robbery 1st degree, Assault 2nd degree, Burglary 3rd degree, and Criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree
Police were searching for Howell for allegedly posing as an immigration officer before attempting to rape a 51-year-old Hispanic woman waiting for a cab around 11am on Tuesday near Montague St & Henry St in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood.
According to police, the victim said the suspect claimed to be an ICE agent before directing her to a stairwell nearby where he punched her and tried to rape the victim before robbing her of her belongings including a chain, cellphone and purse.
The suspect was escorted out of New York City Police Department – Special Victims Squad; at 653 Grand Avenue in Brooklyn to a waiting jail transport vehicle.
