Veteran midfielder Casemiro now appears to have been offered a lifeline to take to the pitch once more as he has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Since Ruben Amorim took charge at Manchester United, the Portuguese manager has wanted intensity from his players, with Casemiro struggling to provide this.

As such the regular starter has now become a routinely unused substitute, stuck watching the games from the bench.

Whilst this is frustrating for the midfielder, it’s even more frustrating for United accountants, with Casemiro earning £350,000 per week as the club’s highest earner, to not be used in games.

As such, the club are keen to offload the star, with interest coming recently from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Besiktas, and now from his home nation of Brazil.

Flamengo agree loan deal for Casemiro

Brazilian outlet Bolvaip has reported that Flamengo has not only entered the race for Casemiro, but have gone so far as agreeing a loan deal with United.

Former Premier League left-back Filipe Luís manages the Brazilian club and has recently given his approval to sign his fellow countryman, despite a huge concern.

The issue jeopardising the move, Casemiro’s salary. Naturally, such a high wage is a real concern to any club looking to sign the star, with a similar issue leading to some of Europe’s elites backing out of signing Marcus Rashford.

However, United have now agreed to cover a large part of Casemiro’s salary to get the deal across the line.

Brazilian reporter Jorge Nicola commented: “I can assure you that Flamengo investigated the player’s situation in the last few days.”

He continued: “The English club agree to loan him and help with part of his salary. Filipe Luís would love to count on Casemiro.

“Flamengo understand that, given all the figures, it is a very risky business. Even though United are willing to help with most of the salary, there would still be a very high amount to be paid.”

Flamengo have another two weeks to make their decision, with the Brazilian transfer window set to close on the 28th February.
