Manchester United have been linked to several Sporting Lisbon stars ever since Ruben Amorim left the Portuguese club to move to Old Trafford.

His former star striker, Viktor Gyokeres, as well as rising talents like Geovany Quenda have already been heavily linked with a reunion with their former coach.

As the days go by, a summer raid of Sporting is looking increasingly likely, with Manchester United scouts attending Sporting’s recent game against Porto.

The main target of the scouting mission was in fact 17-year-old Quenda, the club’s talented right-winger.

With Antony on loan with Real Betis and Marcus Rashford looking likely to depart in the summer, a slot on the wing has opened up, with Quenda already used to Amorim’s system.

Under the leadership of Amorim, Quenda made 18 appearances with two goals and two assists, having grabbed four more assists in 10 games since Amorim departed.

Now, his former youth coach, Bernardo Bruschy, has spoken of the links between United and his former star.

A Bola has reported an interview with the youth coach where he commented: “Seeing his [Geovany Quenda’s] name being associated with clubs of the biggest size in Europe surprises me just because it is so early, I am not surprised if he gets there.”

He continued: “Sometimes we forget that Quenda is only 17 years old. His maturity, his quality and the performance he can already give to the team, even though he is so young, are something out of the ordinary.

“And that makes us forget his age, but in fact he is only 17 years old and has a lot to improve and grow, but he is already a player who is at a state of maturity far ahead of what is normal for his age.”

As Bruschy comments, with Quenda only being 17 years old, the winger has a truly impressive potential if developed properly. However, due to his age, United weren’t able to make a move for Quenda even if they wanted to back in the winter transfer window.

Brexit laws mean United have to wait to sign the star until after his 18th birthday which will be in April, making him a strong potential signing for the summer.
