Christian Eriksen’s time at Manchester United appears to be nearing its final stages as he continues to struggle for game time under Ruben Amorim.
The Danish midfielder, once considered one of the finest playmakers in the Premier League, has found himself on the fringes of the squad in recent months.
At 32 years old, Eriksen remains one of the most experienced players at Old Trafford, but his influence on the pitch has decreased significantly this season.

His ability to dictate play, find space, and unlock defenses made him a crucial figure during his time at Tottenham, where he built his reputation as an elite playmaker.
However, since the departure of Erik ten Hag in October, Eriksen has seen his minutes dwindle, with Amorim favoring a more dynamic and high-intensity midfield.
Bruno Fernandes continues to be an untouchable presence in United’s midfield, while Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo have established themselves as key players under the new regime.
Even young midfielder Toby Collyer has begun climbing the pecking order, further limiting Eriksen’s opportunities alongside fellow veteran Casemiro.
As Amorim prioritizes energy and pressing in his tactical setup, Eriksen has been left as more of a rotational option, rather than a regular starter.
This has led to increasing speculation about his future, with some questioning whether he still has a role to play in United’s long-term plans.
Now, a Manchester United legend has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that Eriksen would be better off moving on from the club.

Peter Schmeichel has advised Eriksen to leave Manchester United, believing he no longer fits the demands of the modern Premier League.
“Of course, as we know, he is a midfielder.
“Nowadays in the Premier League, you need players who can sprint up and down for 90 minutes,” said the legendary United goalkeeper in his interview with Voetbal Primeur.
“The way Ruben Amorim wants to play also doesn’t suit him.
“He wants to win the ball back quickly.
“At a very high pace.
“That’s not in his nature.
“Unfortunately, Eriksen no longer has that energy.”
Schmeichel went a step further, suggesting that Eriksen should leave the Premier League altogether and return to his former club.
“He’s a great player. Some of the things he does on the field… He’s still so good on the ball and technically. I think Ajax would be a fantastic move for him.”
Eriksen will be available on a free transfer this summer as his contract is set to expire in June.
